About
This esteemed golf course was built in 1915 on the site of an original 1825 log-cabin near the Civil War Battle of Fredericksburg monument. The course was designed by renowned golf course architect, Tom Bendelow, who also designed the Medinah Country Club (home of the 1949, 1975, & 1990 US Opens). Excelsior Springs (Public) Golf Course opened in 1915. The original 36 hole complex dropped to 18 holes during the Great Depression. Those original 18 holes are still in place today. This Championship 6553 yard par 72, was designed by renowned golf course architect, Tom Bendelow, who also designed Medinah Country Club, home of the 1949, 1975, & 1990 U.S.Opens as well as Olympia Fields Country Club, where they hosted the 1928 and 2003 U.S.Open and two past PGA Championships. Excelsior Springs Golf Course offers rolling hills, elevation changes, huge mature trees and nature at its finest, as their are few homes that outline its boundaries.
