Vermilionville is an outdoor museum that spans a 23-acre site along the banks of the Bayou Vermilion. The museum consists of 25 structures, including 9 original, restored homes complete with historical artifacts and artisans dressed in period attire who provide demonstrations and interpret local culture and history in both French and English. Onsite: Gift Shop, Restaurant (11 am-2 pm), Watershed Exhibit, Dancehall (Saturdays 1 pm-3 pm & Sundays 1 pm - 4 pm), and Living History Museum. Museum admission: $10 adults, $8 seniors, $6 students. No pets allowed in the museum. Harvest Host Guests: There are 2 paved lots available for parking, neither have RV hook-ups. One lot is locked and secured from 5PM-8AM, but you are welcome to park there. Both lots border a small pond that supports an abundance of wildlife. You’re welcomed to fish if you have a valid Louisiana fishing license. Beware of the alligators. They are still and slow-moving most of the time, but they can attack quickly, especially if provoked. Please do not allow pets to swim in/near the pond or bayou (river) for this reason.
