Barbara Worth Country Club is your destination in the Imperial Valley for fine dining, night-life entertainment, championship golf, special events and banquets. The resort features a 104-room hotel providing overnight and long-term accommodations for visitors and guests.  Recent upgrades and renovations have brought a new life to this iconic resort & country club, with additional improvements continually occurring.The Imperial Palms Resort course is steeped in history dating back to when it was built in 1927, a classic tree lined gem designed by noted course architect Lawrence Hughes. The par 72 course is short by today’s standards, measuring just over 6,500 yards when stretched to the blue tees for 18 holes, but don’t be fooled, the Barbara Worth layout will challenge the best of golfers with some small sloping greens and tree-lined fairways. In this somewhat desolate region the wind can be brutal at times making some of the holes, in particular the par 4, 18th, a real test. Having been built in 1927 when modern equipment was not available, the course designer basically took what the terrain offered up and created a relatively flat, side by side 18 holes. The Imperial Palms Resort is a traditional, old style layout with generous fairways making for an enjoyable round of golf, yet challenging enough for the advanced player. The addition of Augusta-like white sand bunkers are a welcome enhancement. On the course, the 18 holes begin with a remedial 345 yard, Par 4 where getting off to a good start is welcome all the way to the very challenging 460 yard, Par 4 dog leg right 18th with trees on both sides and plays uphill and into a breeze where a solid drive is a must, otherwise you are looking at Bogey at best. In between is the rest of a very fun yet challenging golf course Maybe the best feature about The Barbara Worth is it is a classic walker’s course with greens and tees just steps apart, which is being encouraged. If you prefer to ride then select one of a new fleet of E-Z-GO golf carts for an enjoyable ride about the course. High season greens fee is $50 and low season greens fee is $35, golf cart fee included.
