TL;DR: Harvest Hosts offer unique RV camping spots in the U.S. Southwest, ideal for families, featuring kid-friendly activities at farms, museums, and attractions. Perfect for creating memorable family experiences.

Top Harvest Hosts Farms and Attractions for RVing Families in the Southwest

Harvest Hosts aren’t just wineries, breweries, and distilleries that welcome adults. There are hundreds of farms, attractions, and museums that the whole family will love. These Harvest Hosts are favorites among children with their petting zoos, kid-friendly activities, and yummy treats to eat!

Here’s a look at just some of the Harvest Hosts that roll out the red carpet for RV camping families in the U.S. Southwest:

Rock Springs Cafe, Black Canyon Cafe, AZ

If your kids like pie, your family won’t want to miss Rock Springs Cafe, just off Highway 17, north of Phoenix. Chocolate cream, blueberry crumb, key lime, strawberry rhubarb… all your favorite flavors are here! Of course, you can also take a break from RV cooking and order a full meal, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner served daily and plenty of comfort foods on the menu, from buttermilk pancakes to smoked chicken pot pie.

Another top spot for RVing families in Arizona: Thunder Mountain Alpaca Ranch. hh_rock-springs-cafe_mid_18221_michelle-wells_19-10-25_0cNTTVKwiuWbTfFH_548b54011d73fe3b7853c189dbcd1395.jpg

Windrush Alpacas, Clovis, NM

Harvest Hosts is so pleased to have several alpaca farms operating as Hosts across the country. Kids absolutely love being able to interact or feed the alpacas — and often other farm animals — that make their home at these locations. At Windrush Alpacas, close to the Texas border, you can visit the fuzzy alpacas in their pens, and also shop for cool souvenirs at the gift shop, including socks and hats made with alpaca fiber, as well as alpaca-themed toys for kids.

Another top spot for RVing families in New Mexico: High Country Alpaca Ranch

Hangar 25 Air Museum, Big Spring, TX

The Hangar 25 Air Museum is housed in a fully restored World War II era hangar, just off Highway 20, west of Abilene, Texas. Little ones who are enamored by planes and adults who study military history will appreciate the indoor and outdoor displays of aircraft once used by Air Force and Army Air Corps pilots. Harvest Host members who have stayed here say their children enjoy taking bicycles out on the expansive pavement that was once tarmac for a working Air Force base.

The Dinosaur Museum, Blanding, UT

Toddlers who can already tell the difference between a T-rex and a triceratops love The Dinosaur Museum in southeast Utah. This museum tells the history of dinosaurs on earth with realistic sculptures, skeletons, and fossilized footprints. There are also exhibits dedicated to raptors and other “feathered dinosaurs,” memorabilia from dinosaur movies, and a butterfly garden to stroll through.

Peggy Sue’s 50’s Diner, Yermo, CA

History buffs flock to Peggy Sue’s 50’s Diner for its authentic vibe — in fact, this roadside diner was built in 1954, so it’s long served hungry travelers just off of I-15, northeast of Los Angeles. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with plenty of kid-friendly favorites, from curly French fries to old-fashioned ice cream sodas. Take time to check out the display of movie memorabilia.
